One of the higher rated prospects to sign with the Flames in the class of 2014, Avery has lived up to the billing. He’s started 21 of the last 22 games at defensive tackle including all 11 in 2017. With a beefed up interior line, Avery will likely see most of his time in 2018 at defensive end. This will allow him the opportunity to come off blocks and make a play on the ball much more frequently than at defensive tackle. His ability to continue to elevate his level of play will be crucial for the Flames in 2018 as the defensive line was a huge weakness throughout the season last year.
