Liberty has added another transfer to its baseball roster as the Flames will welcome Cade Hungate.

Hungate spent his past two seasons at Florida State where he redshirted during the shortened 2020 season. In 2019 as a true freshman, the 6’2″ right hander saw time in 8 games in relief, totaling 8 innings pitched with a 7.88 ERA.

He told the Herold Courier that Liberty coach Scott Jackson looks at him to be a “corner guy in the field and a back end guy out of the bullpen.” Reportedly, VCU and Radford were also in the mix for the former Abingdon High School in Abingdon, Virginia product.

Liberty has picked up several baseball transfers in recent weeks. Hungate joins Dylan Cumming, Trevor DeLaite, Jake Wilson, and Aaron Anderson.
