Liberty is adding grad transfer Maine grad transfer Trevor DeLaite to its pitching staff in 2021, the left-hander has announced on twitter. DeLaite will be immediately eligible as a grad transfer with one season of eligibility remaining.

He was a senior at Maine this past season, but when the the year got ended by the COVID-19 pandemic shortly after it started, seniors were granted another season of eligibility by the NCAA.

DeLaite pitched against the Flames a year ago in Lynchburg, allowing just one hit and one run in 3 1/3 innings of relief. He is expected to compete for a spot in the starting rotation, but he could also earn a key spot out of the bullpen.

In 2019, DeLaite took over as Maine’s closer, posting a 2.12 ERA with 7 saves while striking out 41 and walking 10 in 34 innings. He will join fellow Maine transfers at Liberty in football’s Chris Ferguson and Joshua Mack.
