Just one week after Liberty and head coach Jamey Chadwell picked up commitments from four transfers who took a visit to the campus in Lynchburg, the Flames continue to add to its 2023 roster. Liberty has picked up a commitment from Texas Tech transfer OL Jack Tucker who took a visit to Liberty this weekend.

Tucker has three years of eligibility remaining after spending the past two seasons at Texas Tech. He redshirted in 2021 and has not played for the Red Raiders. Since entering the portal, the 6’7″, 300 pound Tucker has picked up offers from Liberty, Ball State, Kent State, Utah State, Texas State, and others.

Originally from Argyle High School and Argyle, Texas, Tucker was rated by 247 Sports as the No. 76 tackle in the nation and the No. 106 player in Texas for the 2021 recruiting class. His offer list out of high school included Texas Tech,  Baylor, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Cal, Illinois, USC, Washington State, Purdue, and Houston among others.

He will be expected to add depth for the Flames at offensive line this season and also compete for a starting position. The Flames returns starters X’Zauvea Gadlin, Brendan Schlittler, and Jonathan Graham to the front line. Jordan White, who transferred from West Virginia, and Xavior Gray, who has committed to the Flames after transferring from Akron, are both expected to compete for a starting spot as well. White, who spent the spring at Liberty and the new coaching staff, was the first team center throughout the duration of the 15 spring period practices.

True freshman Aaron Fenimore and returners John Kourtis and Chase Mitchell are also expected to be a part of the Flames’ two deep this fall. Others expected to compete for playing time include Brian Hannibal and Harrison Hayes.

Tucker joins an increasing group of transfers who have committed to Liberty and Coach Chadwell this spring. Xavior Gray, a transfer offensive tackle from Akron, committed to the Flames just a couple of weeks ago. Last weekend, defensive ends Gray Carroll and Bryson Jennings, LB Chike Nwankwo, and wide receiver Victor Jones all committed to Liberty. Liberty also added Colorado transfer CB Joshua Wiggins following his visit over the weekend.
