Liberty and Miami (Ohio) have mutually agreed to cancel their future football series, according to a report by FBSchedules.

The Flames and RedHawks had previously agreed to a home and home series to be played in Oxford, Ohio on Oct. 7, 2023 and at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia on Sept. 27, 2025. Per the report, neither school will “incur any penalty, liquidated damage, or other pecuniary responsibility to the other” as a result of the cancellation.

With Liberty’s move to the Conference USA beginning with the 2023 season, the Flames continue to purge future games from schedules. Liberty has to move from 12 games in some seasons to just four non-conference games beginning with the 2023 season.

Previously, Liberty and Virginia’s future football series was cancelled. The Flames and Cavaliers were scheduled to play a four game, home and home series with games in Charlottesville in 2023 and 2030 and in Lynchburg in 2027 and 2029.

The Flames have also had a game against Appalachian State, originally scheduled for Oct. 11, 2025, pushed back to Nov. 8, 2031.
