This week’s ASOR Player of the Week honor goes to Chris Parker.

As the Flames split the two-game series with the Hatters this weekend, Parker was undoubtedly the biggest contributor for Liberty. The senior led the Flames in scoring for both games, dropping 18 points in the first game and then 12 points the following day, which resulted in a Liberty win. Known as the team’s facilitator, Parker continued that trend as he was responsible for 5 assists over the weekend, but the point guard also came up huge on the boards against Stetson, hauling in a total of 9 rebounds in both games.

This is the second time we have named Parker player of the week. McGhee, Parker, and Preston have been the only POTW winners, as each has been named the player of the week twice this season. The Plano, Texas native has made the biggest impact out of all the new additions the Flames added this off-season. Parker not only leads the team in assists with 4.3 per game but also in steals with 0.9 per game. Parker is arguably the most important player to Liberty’s offense not only because of his facilitating ability but due to his scoring as well. Parker is second on the team in scoring with 10.4 a game, trailing only Darius McGhee (13.4 per game). Parker also leads the team in minutes played with 28.9 a game.

Parker’s veteran presence and production have been huge this season, as he leads a younger Flames team looking to win their third straight ASUN Championship. Parker and the Flames are back in action on Friday, January 29th, in an important series against Jacksonville.
