This week’s basketball Player Of The Week goes to Blake Preston.

The sophomore came up big for the Flames this week, scoring a combined 23 points and 11 rebounds in two games against Missouri and Columbia International. The big man gave the Flames extremely productive minutes coming off the bench, as he registered those stats in 27 total minutes of play.

After being behind Scottie James and Myo Baxter-Bell for the past two seasons, Preston was the only true remaining “big man” left on the roster. Preston has proven to be a valuable asset this season, as he is averaging 7.8 points per game, along with 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. His 7.8 ppg trail only Keegan McDowell (8) in point average for coming off the bench and his 4.9 rpg are tied with Darius McGhee for first on the team.

As the Flames near closer to conference play, production like this from Preston will be vital if Liberty wants to “three-peat” as ASUN Champions. Preston and the Flames are back in action on Tuesday, December 15th, as Liberty hosts South Carolina State.
