Liberty has released its 2023 and 2024 football schedules, highlighted by a newly announced game at UCF on Sept. 7, 2024.
The 2023 season will open at home against Bowling Green on Sept. 2. The rest of the 2023 home slate includes Eastern Michigan (Sept. 23), Old Dominion (Sept. 30), FCS member East Tennessee State (Oct. 28), UConn (Nov. 11), and UMass (Nov. 18).
Liberty’s road schedule begins Sept. 9 at Coastal Carolina, and also includes dates at Buffalo (Sept. 16), Miami Ohio (Oct. 7), Virginia (Oct. 14), South Carolina (Nov. 4), and New Mexico State (Nov. 25).
In 2024, Liberty will open the season at home on August 31 against Coastal Carolina. Ball State (Sept. 21), Marshall (Oct. 5), Texas State (Oct. 26), Campbell (Nov. 9), and New Mexico State (Nov. 30) round out the home schedule that season.
Liberty will return to Orlando, Florida on Sept. 7, 2024 to face Central Florida. The Flames’ won the program’s first ever bowl game this past December in Orlando at the Cure Bowl. Liberty will also travel to Eastern Michigan (Sept. 14), Appalachian State (Sept. 28), North Carolina (Oct. 19), UMass (Nov. 16), and FIU (Nov. 23).
Additionally, Liberty and New Mexico State has extended its series through the 2029 season. The Flames will host the Aggies on Nov. 14, 2026 and Nov. 25, 2028; while traveling to Las Cruces on Nov. 27, 2027 and Nov. 17, 2029.
Liberty and New Mexico State, fellow FBS Independents, made news by facing each other twice in each of the post two seasons playing in-season home and home series, something rarely done at the FBS level. After taking a brief break from playing each other in 2020 and 2021, the programs are now scheduled to face once every season from 2022-2029 with the exception of the 2025 campaign.
The Flames’ 2024 match-up with Ball State is part of a home-and-home series with the Cardinals will Liberty travelling to Muncie, Indiana on Oct. 3, 2026.
The trip to Miami to take on Florida International in 2024 is a return trip from the Panthers’ scheduled game in Lynchburg this coming season.
After scheduling two FCS opponents every season from 2018-2020, Liberty’s announced schedules from 2021-2024 include just one FCS opponent.
