On Monday evening, Liberty picked up a commitment from JUCO tight end Chris Barrett. Barrett joins the 19 high school and Junior College players that signed with Liberty during the early signing period in December as part of the Class of 2018. He’s the 6th Junior College member of the class.

Barrett is a 6’3″, 240 pound tight end from Clearwater, Florida and Countryside High School. He spent this past season playing JUCO ball at ASA Miami where he had 10 receptions for 114 yards in 5 games. Out of high school, Barrett was ranked the number 75 tight end prospect in the country. He signed and spent the 2016 season at Georgia Southern where he redshirted prior to transferring to ASA. He also has an offer from Bowling Green. Coming out of high school, Barrett had numerous offers including Toledo, Buffalo, South Florida, and Middle Tennessee State, in addition, obviously, to Georgia Southern.

Barrett was one of 5 prospects to take an official visit to Lynchburg this past weekend. He was joined on his official visit by current Liberty defensive back commit Javon Scruggs, quarterback Jacquez Carter, running back Elijah Davis, and JUCO defensive back Isaac Steele.

The regular football signing period begins on February 7, when Coach Gill and staff could see their class of 19 prospects that signed in December grow towards 30.
