After going through warmups with a brace on his left arm, Liberty quarterback Malik Willis did not got the start in Liberty’s game today against North Alabama. Instead, Maine grad transfer Chris Ferguson gets the nod.

Willis injured his left elbow late in the 4th quarter of last Saturday’s game against Florida International. He remained on the sidelines for the final two Liberty series as Chris Ferguson came on in relief of Willis, who had a sling and ice placed on his arm immediately following the injury.

On Monday, Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze said Willis was day to day this week, and on Thursday he said Willis “looked good” during practice.

In his first two games, Willis has completed 37 of 51 passes for 418 yards and 2 touchdowns and also leads the team in rushing with 253 yards and 3 touchdowns on 34 carries.
