Antonio Gandy-Golden is coming into his rookie year as the number two wide receiver on the Washington Football Team’s Depth Chart. The team is projected to miss the playoffs, as they are currently rebuilding. A young team can be the perfect situation for a guy coming from a small school who has a lot to prove.

When Gandy-Golden was playing for Liberty in 2019 it was evident that he could produce at a high level. He finished fourth in the nation in receiving yards with 1396 yards and 10 touchdowns. The biggest knock on him going into the NFL, was the talent level of the opponents he played up against.

The Washington Football Team saw him available at the 142nd overall pick and deemed him to be the guy to take with that pick. Since that draft selection Gandy-Golden has impressed not only coaches but fellow teammates too. Second-year receiver Terry McLaurin had some very kind remarks for his teammate:

Gandy-Golden is going to get a great chance to perform with currently being second-string on the depth chart. He is a big play receiver that has downfield speed, so expect him to get a decent bit of deep throws. He will need to continue on his route running capabilities if he wants to become a more polished player.

Gandy-Golden has been praised for his blocking capabilities as well. Reporter Michael Phillips for the Richmond Times said on, 106.7 The Fan’s Chad Dukes:

“I think Gandy-Golden stood out to me for his blocking,” he said. “I’ve really appreciated, he gets downfield if it’s a run play. He’s in the right place with the right technique. He’s clearing people out of the way. I like to see that out of a wide receiver.”

AGG can potentially follow in the footsteps of teammate Terry McLaurin and have himself a big rookie season. McLaurin had 919 yards and 7 touchdowns as a third-round pick just a year ago in 2019.

Before the players had to report for training camp, Gandy-Golden was seen practicing with second year QB, Dwayne Haskins.

It is important for the quarterback and receivers to have a good relationship. It looks like Gandy-Golden is doing everything he need to do to get balls thrown his way.

My Antonio Gandy-Golden Projected 2020 Stats: 758 yards and 6 touchdowns.
