Liberty takes a break from their Division 1 schedule tonight at home against the Buffaloes of Milligan College.  The Flames will look to build on what has gone right this season so far, and perhaps correct some mistakes as well in a game they should win.  Here is what you need to know:

  • Milligan is a small Christian college in Tennessee with about 1,200 students.  Their athletics program competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, of the NAIA.
  • This is the Buffaloes’ 3rd season under Head Coach Bill Robinson.
  • Their basketball program is 8-6 on the season, however they are 2-5 on the road.
  • They go deep: No one on their roster averages more than 21.9 minutes per game, and 4 players that average double digits in scoring.
  • Tyler DeVault, a 6’6″ Senior Forward leads the team in scoring, with 12.1 PPG.

Despite the Flames struggles this season, this match up should be what it was meant to be; a confidence builder.   Liberty should have superior talent on the floor most of the game, and are likely to walk away from this one with a comfortable win.  The thing to watch for in this one will be unit cohesion.  Hopefully Liberty focuses on good team basketball, and can build on their performance tonight.
