After three years of no changes to the Liberty football on field coaching staff under head coach Jamey Chadwell, year four will have some new faces. Earlier, Liberty LB Coach Josh Linam has taken a job at James Madison as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker Coach. Earlier, co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Willy Korn stepped away from football.

Following Linam’s departure, reports have surfaced Tuesday that Teddy Gallagher will be promoted into that vacated role. Gallagher has been part of the Flames’ staff since January 2023 shortly after Jamey Chadwell was hired. He originally served at Liberty on staff as defensive quality control coach in 2023 and 2024. For the 2025 season, he was promoted to outside linebackers coach.

Gallagher played college football at Coastal Carolina as a linebacker from 2018-21 under Chadwell where he was a two-time all-Sun Belt third team selection. He finished his career with the fourth most tackles in Coastal Carolina history. Following his playing time, he started his coaching career as a defensive grad assistant helping coach the linebackers in 2022 at Coastal.

Liberty is looking to rebound from a 4-8 season in 2025. The Flames were very successful in Chadwell’s first season in 2023, going 13-1, winning the CUSA Championship before advancing to the Fiesta Bowl against Oregon.
