On Thursday at 7 p.m., the Liberty football team was allowed into its newly remodeled locker room inside Williams Stadium Liberty Football Center (former Football Operations Center). The unveiling of the shiny new facility brought with it much excitement from the players as captured across various social media channels.

The new locker room and adjoining bathroom and shower are much larger than its predecessor that was built in 2006 when the FOC was first opened. There are 119 lockers and each is fitted with its own graphic headboard with the player’s picture, name, number, biographical information, and a special area for personal or group messages.

The locker room is part of an expansion to the LFC that will take it from 48,000 square feet to over 65,000. Construction began in December and is expected to be completed in January 2020. The top floor of the newly renovated facility will house 17 offices, 12 position meeting rooms, and a 147-seat, theater style team meeting room. The head coach’s office will feature a walk-out patio overlooking Williams Stadium.

A 13,000 square foot players lounge that can accommodate up to 130 people, including a nutrition center, will also be on the ground level alongside the locker room. A glass enclosed cardio workout room will replace the existing front entrance to the operations center and the workout area will overlook the lower level. Additionally, this level will feature a new press room for weekly press conferences and postgame interviews as well as a new training room which will include 11 treatment beds, an onsite x-ray room, plus hydrotherapy pools.

The lower level of the FOC will feature a 16,000 square foot workout space which will be furnished with all the latest training equipment.
