Liberty softball has won four in a row following a perfect week that saw a sweep of Kennesaw State and a non-conference road win at Elon. Liberty is now 22-13 overall and 7-2 in ASUN play.

The Lady Flames head to Jacksonville, Fla., where they will play at North Florida, Friday and Saturday. It will be a rematch of the 2022 ASUN Softball Championship final, which Liberty won to earn its second straight ASUN title and NCAA Regional berth.

FRIDAY: LIBERTY 5, KENNESAW STATE 4

Liberty catcher Caroline Hudson hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning, fueling a 5-4 comeback victory over Kennesaw State, Friday at Liberty Softball Stadium.

Kennesaw State scored three runs in the fifth inning, taking a 4-2 lead on Bailey’s two-out, two run single. The Lady Flames responded in the home half of the sixth, with Hudson connecting on the first pitch she saw, lining it over the fence in left for a 5-4 Liberty advantage.

The Owls put runners on the corners with one out in the top of the seventh. However, Keeney got out of the jam, getting Cates to pop out before striking out Bailey to end the game.

SATURDAY: LIBERTY 6, KENNESAW STATE 0

Liberty sophomore Paige Bachman struck out 12 batters during a two-hit shutout, as the Lady Flames blanked Kennesaw State, 6-0, to secure the series win. Bachman tossed her second career shutout, striking out a career-high 12 batters while walking two and allowing two hits.

Rachel Craine reached all four times she came to the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk, hit by pitch and two runs scored. Megan Fortner went 1-for-3 with four RBI, while Devyn Howard batted 2-for-3 with a homer, one RBI and one run scored. KK Madrey went 2-for-3, while Mary Claire Wilson batted 1-for-3 with an RBI double and Caroline Hudson hit 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Liberty scored in five of the six innings in which it batted, including single runs in the first, second, third and sixth innings and two tallies in the fourth. Bachman tossed four 1-2-3 innings and posted the second and third three-strikeout innings of her career.

SUNDAY: LIBERTY 3, KENNESAW STATE 1

Paige Bachman allowed just one hit in 4.2 innings pitched without allowing a run, as she put a bow on her superb weekend in the circle. Liberty scored a run in the first and added two more in the sixth after the Owls tied the game in the top half of the inning. Rachel Roupe was 3 for 3 with two runs scored on the afternoon.

Liberty led KSU 1-0 as Bachman carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning. Bachman walked the leadoff batter, and a single and walk later loaded the bases with two outs for pinch hitter Laura Bishop. Keeney came on during the at bat to get Bishop on a groundout.

KSU scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth, as Roupe and Wilson collided on a fly ball, forcing the ball out, and Taylor Cates scored from first on the error.

The Lady Flames scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead. Keeney then fought off KSU in the top of the seventh. With two out and runners on second and third, Brinaya Bailey lined one that first baseman Megan Fortner caught for the final out.

TUESDAY: LIBERTY 10, ELON 1

Liberty earned its fourth win in a row, defeating Elon 10-1 on Tuesday at Hunt Softball Park. The Lady Flames posted their second win over Elon on the season, as Liberty had previously beaten the Phoenix 6-4 on Feb. 26 at Liberty Softball Stadium.

Both teams loaded the bases in the first inning, with Liberty scoring twice and Estroff keeping the Phoenix off the board. Liberty continually added to its lead before Elon extended the game with one run in the fifth.
