Liberty softball was a perfect 3-0 this past week at the Flames Classic, running the win streak to 12 games. Unfortunately, the home game against top 25 Maryland on Sunday was canceled due to weather. The Lady Flames travel to Kentucky this week to begin conference play.

THURSDAY GAME 1: LIBERTY 8, SACRED HEART 3

Liberty broke open a close game, scoring three times in the sixth to seal an 8-3 win over Sacred Heart in the first game of the Flames Classic.

Liberty staked itself to a 4-0 lead with a four-run second, getting two-out RBI hits from Howard and Hudson to push the advantage to four. The Lady Flames led 5-0 going into the sixth inning, with Bachman holding SHU hitless until that point. The Pioneers scored three runs on three hits in the sixth, with two errors extending the inning and helping SHU pull to within 5-3. However, Liberty responded with three runs of its own in the home half of the sixth.

THURSDAY GAME 2: LIBERTY 13, BALL STATE (5 INNINGS)

Liberty erupted for 11 runs during the second inning on Thursday, sparking a 13-0, five-inning win over Ball State. The Lady Flames scored 11 runs on six hits in the second inning, with Ball State committing one error. Craine got the scoring going with a base-loaded two-run double, and Woodard’s grand slam capped the 11-run inning.

SATURDAY: LIBERTY 9, FAIRFIELD 3

Fairfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring twice off of Estroff before Bachman entered the circle in relief. The Lady Flames quickly tied it with a two-run first inning. Liberty took the lead for good in the bottom of the second. Hudson hit an RBI double, and Craine made it 6-2 with an opposite-field three-run home run later in the inning.
