Liberty is off to an 11-0 start which is the best in program history. This past week Liberty won two games, Sunday night in Phoenix against Grand Canyon 70-61. The other was a home game against Trinity Baptist, 87-28. This is week 6 of the AP top 25 rankings and the Flames are now receiving 9 votes. That is up from last week when Liberty received 5 votes.

With the 9 votes, the Flames have moved up to 31st in the ranking, 6th best amongst the others receiving votes coming in behind Utah State, Washington, Purdue, Indiana, and Marquette.

Liberty has one game this week and it is the hardest opponent of the season to this point. On Saturday night, the Flames travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. The Commodores are 6-2 on the season. We will have a game preview later in the week. If the Flames were to win that game it is possible they could enter next week’s top 25.

Andy Katz, ranks the top 36, teams each week. Liberty made his rankings for the first time coming in at #36 this week.

“The Flames are now 11-0,” Katz said of Liberty. “We all need to take notice that this team could win a game or two in mid-March.”
