Playing Lipscomb just one day after falling to the Bisons on Friday afternoon, the Liberty Flames (9-4, 1-1) got back in the win column thanks to a big night from Darius McGhee who led the team with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Blake Preston, coming off his second career double double on Friday, drew two fouls on ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Ahsan Asadullah in the first 5 minutes of the game as the big man did not return to the floor in the first half. After he checked out, true freshman Micaiah Abii checked in and provided several solid minutes of play. He banged home a three pointer and had two blocks on the defensive end of the floor.

True freshman Drake Dobbs also provided a nice boost off the bench as he was able to penetrate the Lipscomb defense on several possessions. His three pointer gave the Flames a 15-10 lead at the under 8 media timeout.

Darius McGhee began to heat up as he made a three pointer and got in the paint for a couple of buckets. That three started an avalanche by the Flames as Keegan McDowell, Chris Parker, and Kyle Rode all got in on the action. Lipscomb utilized a 7-0 scoring run to cut the lead 12 before Dobbs ended the run with a finish at the rim.
