The NCAA released its first NET rankings of the 2020-21 season on Monday, January 4th. Liberty came in at No. 70 in the first rankings, good for first in the ASUN.

FGCU followed the Flames for 2nd in the ASUN at No. 197, followed by Bellarmine at No. 241, Lipscomb at No. 242, Jacksonville at No. 265, Stetson at No. 282, North Florida at No. 298, North Alabama at No. 304, and Kennesaw State at No. 320.

The NET, which stands for NCAA Evaluation Tool, is used to evaluate teams for the NCAA Tournament. Starting with this season, the NET is a little different than the version we saw introduced in 2018. Instead of utilizing five metrics to evaluate teams, the committee will use two metrics: Team Value Index (TVI) and a net efficiency rating. Winning percentage, adjusted winning percentage, and scoring margin will no longer be used.

Liberty’s non-conference opponents are led by Missouri, who checks in at No. 10. They are followed by Purdue at No. 47, TCU at No. 65, South Carolina at No. 103, Mississippi State at No. 113, St Francis PA at No. 210, Alcorn State at No. 329, and South Carolina State at No. 338.
