Liberty got a late addition to its 2021 recruiting class when the Flames picked up a commitment from Jackson Shirer on Monday. Shirer is a senior at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas.

Liberty is the first Division I offer for the 6’3″, 235 pound Shirer. He had several offers from non-Division I schools. Shirer had 21 tackles and 5 tackles for loss in 7 games played during his senior season.

Shirer is the son of Priscilla Shirer, an author, motivational speaker, actress and evangelist. She has starred in recent movies War Room, I Can Only Imagine, and Overcomer. Priscilla’s father is Tony Evans, a pastor, speaker, and author who serves as the senior pastor to Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas. Priscilla’s brother Jonathan Evans was a fullback at Baylor and signed as an undrafted free agent in 2005 with the Dallas Cowboys. He also spent time with the San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texas, and Washington Redskins. Jonathan is currently the chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys and a motivational speaker.

The defensive end prospect, Jackson Shirer joins Liberty’s 2021 recruiting class that now grows to 20 following the 18 that signed in December and UTEP corner transfer Duron Lowe.
