The Liberty Flames are going bowling once again! For a fourth consecutive season the Flames have become bowl eligible and will continue their season into December. Liberty (8-4) has accepted an invitation to the Boca Raton Bowl where the Flames will take on Toledo (8-5).

The Boca Raton Bowl from Boca Raton, Florida will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN at FAU Stadium.

The Toledo Rockets finished 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC. On Saturday, Toledo defeated Ohio, 17-7, in the MAC Championship Game. The only similar opponent between the Flames and Rockets this season is UMass. Toledo won on their home field against the Minutemen, 55-10, while Liberty won in Amherst, 42-24.

Liberty is 0-3 all-time against Toledo, with all three games happening in Toledo, Ohio. Liberty lost in 1994, 47-37, in 2003, 49-3, and 2007, 35-34.

Liberty finished the regular season at 8-4. The Flames have lost three straight to end the regular season with losses to UConn, Virginia Tech, and New Mexico State after starting the year at 8-1.

The Flames will be looking to improve to 4-0 all-time in bowl games following wins over Georgia Southern, 23-16, and Coastal Carolina, 37-34 in overtime, in the Cure Bowl in 2019 and 2020, respectively, and a 56-20 win over Eastern Michigan last year.
