The Liberty Lady Flames swept its home stand this past week, knocking off New Mexico State and UTEP. The Flames have improved to 18-6 overall and 11-2 in conference play after posting its 11th consecutive home victory. Liberty has now posted 26 consecutive seasons with 10 or more conference wins.

W, 63-58 vs New Mexico State, Feb. 13
Liberty utilized a 0-0 late run to pull out the victory at home over the Aggies on Thursday. The Flames are now 5-0 all-time against the Aggies after completing the season sweep for this year. Liberty was 11 for 12 from the free throw line during the final quarter. The Aggies led, 50-48, midway through the fourth quarter before going more than four minutes between made field goals. Asia Boone, who had only scored two points during the game’s first 35 minutes, tallied 10 during the last five. She notched six of Liberty’s points during the 9-0 that put the home room on top for good. Boone finished the game with 12 points while Emmy Stout had 14 and Emma Hess added 10.
W, 67-53 vs UTEP, Feb. 15
Saturday was Senior Day at Liberty Arena, and the Lady Flames celebrated with a win over UTEP. Seniors accounted for 34 of the team’s 67 points. Bella Smuda scored 11 of her game-high 15 points after halftime, helping Liberty improve to 4-0 all-time against the Miners. The Lady Flames remain in second place in the CUSA standings, a half game behind Middle Tennessee with five regular season contests remaining. Liberty has clinched a spot in the top six and therefore a bye into the CUSA Women’s Basketball quarterfinals.
