Here’s our updated power rankings based on games played as of December 29, 2013. A very light week this week with only 6 games played total since our previous power rankings.

Radford holds onto their stake to the #1 spot with their 64-63 win over Florida Gulf Coast. The Highlanders return to action this week with 3 games beginning Monday against Houghton.

2. (1st South) Charleston Southern 5-6 #195   1
The Buccaneers beat St. Andrews 122-40 as they continue to put up gaudy scores against their sub-DI opponents, but CSU is just 2-6 against Division I opponents.

3. (2nd S) Winthrop 6-5 #220   1
After racing out to a 6-2 start, the Eagles have now lost 3 straight following their double overtime loss to Hampton on Sunday afternoon. Winthrop was paced by Keon Johnson and Keon Moore who both scored over 20 points.

4. (3rd S) Gardner-Webb 7-7 #251    no change
The Runnin’ Bulldogs didn’t play this week, but return to action January 2nd in their final nonconference tune-up prior to conference play against Delaware State.

5. (2nd N) VMI 6-5 #253    no change
The Keydets took the week off and will return to the court Monday night as they face Clemson.

6. (4th S) UNC-Asheville 5-7 #215   1
The Bulldogs are surging with 4 consecutive wins including Saturday’s 75-61 win over UNC-Wilmington. Former UNCA coach Eddie Biedenbach made his return to Asheville as he is now on the sidelines as an assistant for UNCW. Wilmington was 3-0 against Big South opponents this season prior to the loss.

7. (5th S) Coastal Carolina 6-6 #231   1
The Chanticleers also had the week off and have 2 games this week beginning Monday against South Carolina State.

8. (3rd N) Liberty 6-7 #250    no change
The Flames beat the Fire of Southeastern 92-53 in their only game of the week.

9. (4th N) Longwood 5-8 #323    no change
Longwood did not play any games this week. The Lancers return to action Monday against the Bobcats of Ohio.

10. (5th N) High Point 3-8 #259    no change
The Panthers have now lost 6 straight following their 89-48 drubbing at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Things look gloomy in High Point for the preseason North Division favorites.

11. (6th N) Campbell 5-7 #304    no change
The Camels were off as well this week. Campbell will face Georgia Southern on Monday.

12. (6th S) Presbyterian 4-9 #340    no change
The Blue Hose round out the 6 Big South teams to have the week off. Presby returns to action Monday night on the road against Samford.
