Colorado has flipped three-star 2026 CB Maurice Williams from Liberty. He took an official visit to Boulder over the weekend. Williams originally committed to Liberty in February and returned to campus in Lynchburg earlier this month for an official visit. He is high school teammates with Liberty QB commit John Johnson.

The Flames have had a very strong month during June in building out its Class of 2026, including at corner and in the defensive backfield. Even with the loss of Williams, Liberty has two other CB commits in Kennedi Bailey and Nick Burden. The Flames have also picked up commitments from defensive backs Macaiden Brown and Jaleel Parker.

It is only February but Liberty has already picked up two commitments for the Class of 2026, marking the earliest the football team has ever received public commitments. QB John Johnson announced his commitment on Sunday and now his high school teammate, Maurice Williams, has also announced his commitment to Liberty.

Williams, who goes by Moe, is a 5’11’, 165 pound rising senior from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans. Like Johnson, Williams helped lead Edna Karr to a perfect season in 2025 and state title which was won at the Superdome.

Williams’ offer list includes Ole Miss, Washington, UCF, Georgia Tech, UTSA, South Alabama, and others. He is a three-star rated prospect, according to Rivals. Williams and Johnson were both part of an impressive group of visitors the Flames had on campus this past Saturday for Junior Day. They will be able to sign in December to be part of the 2026 Liberty football team.
