Liberty had 14 players named to the 2023 Athlon Sports Preseason Conference USA All-Conference teams, which was recently released by Athlon Sports.

The Flames had one first-team selection in OL X’Zauvea Gadlin. Four players were named to the second-team in RB Quinton Cooley, WR Noah Frith, OL Brendan Schlittler, and DL Kendy Charles.

Additionally, four players were named to third-team in TE Jacob Jenkins, LB Aakil Washington, CB Kobe Singleton, and S Quinton Reese. Five Liberty players were named to the fourth-team in WR Reese Smith, WR CJ Daniels, OL Jordan White, DL Jay Hard, and S Brandon Bishop.

2023 will mark the first season for Liberty in Conference USA. New head coach Jamey Chadwell will also make his Liberty debut this season after he was announced to the position this past December. He inherits a team that has won at least eight games each of the past four seasons while also advancing to a bowl game each of the program’s first four years at the FBS level.

The Flames will open the season on Sept. 2 against Bowling Green. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon and will be televised on CBS Sports Network from Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia.
