Former NFL running back and Dancing with the Stars “Mirrorball Trophy” winner Rashad Jennings is set to be inducted into Liberty University’s Hall of Fame this Saturday, Dec. 1 when LU’s football team hosts Norfolk State.

Jennings’s induction has been anticipated since his graduation from LU in 2009. Jennings still holds a number of program records, including rushing touchdowns in a season (17), career rushing touchdowns (42), and career 100-yard games (22). The Forest native has continued to be active in and around Liberty University. Jennings addressed LU’s graduating seniors at commencement in 2016 and the residential student body at a May 2018 convocation.

Following his time at Liberty, Jennings enjoyed an 8-year NFL career. During time with the Jaguars, Raiders and Giants, Jennings tallied 5,241 total yards and 25 touchdowns.

Jennings returned to Williams Stadium in 2017 to host a youth football camp put on by his charity, the Rashad Jennings Foundation.

“Well, he’s an outstanding person,” Liberty head football coach Turner Gill said of Jennings in a press conference Tuesday, Nov. 27. “Obviously (has) done a lot of great things for our society, not just the football part of it. Touching people, young people in so many different ways. It’s great to have him, be a part of his family.”

“He laid down the blood, sweat and tears and laid a strong foundation with his presence here . . . ” Gill continued. “I’m just blessed to have an opportunity to know him.”
