After splitting a pair of road contests this past weekend, Liberty returns home for two straight games to close out the Commodore Classic, starting on Friday against Alcorn State. Tip-off is set for 2pm at the Vines Center.

The Alcorn State Braves are just 1-3 on the young season with their lone win coming against non-DI Blue Mountain. They have lost to Tulsa, Vanderbilt, and Kent State. Alcorn State lost to Vanderbilt, 79-54, and Kent State, 79-48, in the first two games of the Commodore Classic. The Braves are currently ranked as the 344 out of 353 Division I teams according to KenPom. Alcorn State has had just one winning season in the past 16 years, and it came just 2 seasons ago under current head coach Montez Robinson. KenPom projects a Liberty win, 77-58, and gives the Flames a 95% chance at improving to 4-1.

Liberty will also host Savannah State on Sunday at 2pm. The Tigers are 2-4 on the season and ranked #342 according to KenPom. The Flames are projected to beat Savannah State, 92-71, and given a 97% chance at the win. The Tigers have a unique offensive style, as they rank 1st in adjusted tempo, average possession length, and attempt more 3-pointers as a percentage of their field goal attempts than any other team. Savannah State owns just 1 Division I win this season, beating Tennessee Tech. They have losses to Texas A&M, Georgia, Gardner-Webb (97-77), and Kent State (104-84).

Savannah State and Alcorn State will face off against each other in the Vines Center on Saturday at 2pm.
