Will the Flames Make the Big South Tourney?

With just 2 regular season games left before next week’s Big South Baseball Tournament, could Liberty miss the event that is being held inside their brand new ballpark? Yes, it’s possible.

Only 8 of the 12 baseball playing members make the Big South Tournament. The top 8 teams based on conference winning percentage, regardless of division, advance to the tournament. Here’s the current standings:

Campbell and Coastal have already clinched the #1 and #2 seeds, respectively. UNC-Asheville, VMI, and Winthrop have been eliminated meaning 1 more team will be eliminated and it could be the Flames. Liberty needs to win one of their last two games against Radford to clinch a spot in the tournament. If the Flames are swept AND Charleston Southern wins one of their last two against Coastal AND Gardner-Webb wins one of their last two against Presbyterian Liberty would be eliminated.

Hopefully Liberty will just take care of business this afternoon by beating the Highlanders.
