Liberty is currently in the midst of a very important weekend in the race for the ASUN regular season title. The Flames will take on Jacksonville State on Saturday night in the only regular season meeting between the two programs this year. Liberty and the Gamecocks are the last two standing teams in the conference with unblemished records. The Flames are currently 5-0 in ASUN play while Jacksonville State is 7-0.

On Thursday, the Flames took care of North Alabama, 72-53, after a nine-day layoff due to COVID protocols. Liberty is hoping to keep alive its streak of three straight ASUN regular season and tournament titles this season and advance to another NCAA Tournament.

Liberty is currently 14-6 on the season and has won six straight since leaving Hawaii and the Diamond Head Classic. Ritchie McKay’s Flames are coming off a 23-6 season last year and 11-2 mark in conference play that saw Liberty earn a 13-seed in the NCAA Tournament before losing to No. 4 seed Oklahoma State in the first round.

Here’s a roundup of where the Flames are being projected currently in the NCAA Tournament by several outlets:

  • ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has dropped Liberty out of his bracket and put Jacksonville State in as the ASUN representative. He has the Gamecocks as a 14-seed.
  • Jerry Palm and CBS Sports has the Flames as a 15-seed and facing 2-seed Duke in Greenville, South Carolina. The winner would then face either Seton Hall or Oregon.

  • On3Sports has Liberty as a 15-seed.
