Liberty continues to add to its 2025 roster through the transfer portal as the Flames have picked up a commitment from Towson running back transfer Tyrell Greene, Jr. Greene is taking advantage of the new JUCO transfer rule, the Diego Pavia rule, to utilize extra eligibility from his time at Fullerton.
Greene is a 6’0″, 195 pound running back from Baltimore, Maryland. He began his collegiate career in JUCO at Fullerton College where he played two seasons, rushing for 1,204 yards and 8 touchdowns on 201 carries his second season there. He then transferred to Towson, playing in 5 games during 2023 as he was limited due to injury. He rushed 22 times for 107 yards that season. This past season, Greene played in 12 games and had 126 rushes for 752 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging 6 yards per carry and 62.7 yards per game. He also had 13 receptions for 89 yards.
In 2024, Greene surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark twice, rushing 16 times for 115 yards and a touchdown against Stony Brook and 15 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown against William & Mary. He also went over 60-yards rushing in a game four other times this season and had 3 rushing touchdowns in the season finale against Campbell.
Liberty’s running back room will have a very different look in 2025. Quinton Cooley and Billy Lucas have exhausted their eligibility while James Jointer and Victor Venn have transferred. Greene is the second running back transfer for Liberty during this cycle joining Georgia Tech transfer RB Evan Dickens. Greene and Dickens will be in the mix for playing time along with returners Vaughn Blue and Caden Williams as well as incoming true freshmen Malachi Fannin-Render and Jaylon Coleman.
