The 2019 home football schedule featured Liberty’s first ever game against a Power Five opponent when the Syracuse Orange paid a visit to Lynchburg. No P5 teams visit in 2020, but there are some intriguing home dates against traditionally strong Group of Five programs in Florida International and Southern Miss.

Liberty has announced future football dates through 2031, including full schedules through 2022, here are the top 5 home football games we’re looking forward to:

Honorable Mention:

  • In 2024, Liberty hosts former Big South rival Coastal Carolina. While most students at Liberty by then won’t remember the rivalry between the two, certainly the alumni will.
  • Later that season, the Flames host Marshall, one of the most storied G5 programs in the region.
  • The Flames will host ACC members Wake Forest (8/30/25) and Duke (9/26/26). Crazy to think that sentence is true and still not make this top 5 list.
  • Liberty will play Appalachian State on October 11, 2025 in the most recently announced series.

5. North Carolina (9/16/28)

Will Liberty still be an Independent when this game is played?

4. Virginia (9/11/27)

It’s unfortunate we have to wait so long to get this in-state foe to Lynchburg.

3. Army (11/27/21)

This is the first scheduled service academy to play at Williams Stadium.

2. BYU (10/22/22)

These two played an instant classic just a few months ago, how will the rematch end?

1. Virginia Tech (11/19/22)

That 2022 home schedule can’t get here soon enough, BYU and Virginia Tech in the same season?!
