Coach Hugh Freeze and his new staff immediately land the highest rated prospect in program history, as 4-star Tayvion Land has signed with the Flames.

Land is a 5’8″, 165 pound cornerback from Virginia Beach where he attends Ocean Lakes High School. He is a 4-star rated prospect according to Rivals and ESPN and a 3-star on 247. He is also ranked as the 31st best corner in the country by Rivals. Land had a laundry list of offers including Maryland, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, FAU, Georgia, LSU, NC State, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

He committed to Maryland in May 2018 and visited there in January 25th. Land is rated as a consensus top 20 prospect in the state of Virginia, including a #9 rating by Rivals. He was also committed to Virginia Tech as a sophomore in high school. Land began his high school career at Ocean Lakes before transferring to Bishop Sullivan for his 10th and 11th grade seasons. He returned to Ocean Lakes for his senior campaign.

Land excelled on both sides of the ball for Ocean Lakes, historically one of the better high school programs in the state. As a senior, he had 29 receptions for 369 yards and 7 touchdowns while also adding 122 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 19 carries.
