Former Liberty quarterback Malik Willis reportedly will sign a three-year, $67.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, including $45 million guaranteed. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the news Monday.

Earlier, the Dolphins announced their plans to release quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, clearing the path for Willis. New Miami general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley both came over from the Green bay Packers this offseason where Willis served as Jordan Love’s backup for the last two years.

Willis was one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market. For the 2025-26 season, Willis saw playing time in 4 games, completing 85.7% of his passes (30 for 35) for 422 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. He had a passer rating of 145.5. He posted a 134.6 passer rating and 77.3 in those 11 games as a Packer.

A former third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2022, Willis has six career starts and is now expected to fill that role for Miami entering Week 1. He appeared in 11 games and started three during his rookie campaign with the Titans. In his second season in Nashville, he only recorded five official pass attempts. Overall, he won one of his three starts and completed 53% of his passes for 350 yards and no touchdowns with the Titans.
