QB MALIK WILLIS

Previous game: Green Bay 20, Seattle 7

With starter Jordan Love still sidelined, Malik Willis once again got the start. His first two passes were incomplete, including the second one being intercepted. He bounced back from there, completing 3 of his final 4 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. It was a bit of an up and down preseason for Willis with a few highlight plays but the overall stats not looking impressive. Love is expected to return for Week 1 amid his thumb injury. Either way, we will have to see if Malike remains QB2 for the Packers like most expect.

Willis was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2021 draft by the Tennessee Titans. After serving as a backup, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers just ahead of the start of the 2024 season where he was very productive. Now, entering 2025, Willis is solidified in his spot behind Jordan Love. Last year in 7 appearances, two of them as a starter, Willis posted a 124.8 QB rating and went 2-0. Willis is entering the final year of his rookie contract. For his career, Malik has completed 75 of 120 passes (62.5%) for 900 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He’s also rushed 52 times for 282 yards and 2 scores.

WR DEMARIO DOUGLAS

Previous game: New York Giants 42, New England 10

While Demario Douglas is expected to be one of the team’s top targets in the passing game, he isn’t getting a ton of playing time in the preseason. He did not record any stats this past week. Now, Douglas and the Patriots turn their attention to the season opener on September 7 against the Raiders.

Douglas was drafted in the 6th round of the 2023 NFL draft by the New England Patriots, and he immediately asserted himself as one of the top receivers for New England.  Douglas had 49 receptions for 561 yards and rushed 8 times for 41 yards in his rookie season. Last year, he had 66 receptions for 621 yards and 3 touchdowns in 17 games played. Entering his third season, Demario looks to continue to assert himself as the top target for the Patriots and become one of the top slot receivers in the league.
