Finishing as the runner-up in this past week’s CUSA Championship, the Liberty Flames are looking to get back to an NCAA Regional this season for the first time since 2022. Liberty finished the regular season at 38-18 overall and 21-9 in CUSA play, finishing in second place in the conference standings. Liberty won its first three games in the CUSA Tournament, picking up wins over Sam  Houston, Louisiana Tech, and Missouri State before falling to Jacksonville State in Sunday’s championship game.

The Flames are currently at 32 in RPI, setting the team up in pretty solid shape in the at-large field discussion. Liberty is up slightly from last week’s ranking of 36. The Flames have a 10-10 record against Quad 1 opponents, 7-4 in Quad 2 games, 12-3 in Quad 3 games, and 12-2 against Quad 4. Liberty continues to be projected into the NCAA Tournament field by most projections. CUSA is also pegged to get three teams in the field by many with Jacksonville State and Missouri State also expected to make the field. Let’s take a look at those projections.

  • The Flames are currently being pegged as a 3-seed in the Lincoln, Nebraska Regional by D1Baseball, hosted by No. 14 overall seed Nebraska. Other teams in this projected regional include 2-seed Ole Miss and 4-seed South Dakota State.
  • In Baseball America‘s updated projected field, Liberty is a No. 2 seed in the field and placed in the Westwood, California regional where No. 1 overall seed UCLA would be the host alongside No. 3 seed Texas State and No. 4 seed Saint Mary’s.
  • On3 Sports currently has Liberty as a three-seed in the Tallahassee Regional alongside No. 9 overall seed Florida State, Oklahoma State, and Holy Cross.
  • The Bracketeer projects Liberty as a two-seed in the Chapel Hill Regional alongside No. 4 North Carolina, Campbell, and Lipscomb.
