Golf
The Flames participated in two tournaments in the month of March, the Cleveland Golf Palmetto (placing 5th of 18 teams) and the Linger Longer Invitational (11th of 14 teams). The Flames are currently ranked 34th by Golf Week, but are still yet to finish in front of a top 25 team in 16 attempts. The Big South Tournament starts April 21, and Liberty will be one of the favorites going in.

Women’s Lacrosse
The women’s lax squad got off to a three game win streak to start off March, but unfortunately had four straight losses to conclude the month. The team lost to Davidson to open up Big South play, but will have a chance to counter that loss today against Campbell. Jen Freymond and Callie Britton were both recognized for their outstanding performance in games played March 4-10. Freymond claimed defensive player of the week while Britton was named freshman of the week. The Flames are currently 4-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Make sure to check out the team before it is too late, they only have three more home games, the last one being April 5.

Softball
After a 10-8 March, the Lady Flames are currently 14-15 overall. After a loss at Radford, sweeping Presbyterian, and being swept by Campbell, Liberty is  3-4 in conference. The Big South seems very competitive thus far as none of Liberty’s conference games have had more than a three run differential. Katie Zavodny has an active hit streak of 21 straight games and is also leading the nation in steals per game. The longest hit streak in school history is 23 games. Also, Hanna Nichols was awarded Big South Softball Player of the Week for her play March 18-24. Softball has a huge month ahead, getting into the thick of the conference schedule and having 25 total games scheduled in April.

Women’s Swimming
Though many Flames were able to clock some of their personal best times at the Ohio State Last Chance Meet, only Jess Reinhardt was able to qualify for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Reinhardt is only the second Flame to ever compete there. The Freshman set the conference record in the 100 and 200m fly, and placed 46th nationally in the 100m fly. Liberty had a very successful year and finished the season 14-2 (9-1).

Men’s Tennis
After a hot 9-1 start to the season the Flames regressed with a 1-5 stretch. Hopefully they can turn things around for the Big South Tournament starting April 17. They definitely have the potential to win the tournament despite their mediocre 3-2 conference record. Make sure to catch one of their final three home matches while you can. The last home match is April 10.

Women’s Tennis
The Lady Flames tallied a 7-2 record during March after a bad start to the season, bringing their record to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the Big South. They have shifted their lineup quite a bit over the course of the season, and it seems to be paying off. They will look to carry this momentum into the Big South Tournament on April 17 where they should be a top seed. Valerie Thong snatched Freshman of the Week honors for March 4-10 and has the best individual record on the team. The Lady Flames have only two more home matches, the last one being on April 6.

Track and Field
The Flames had a strong showing at the IC4A and ECAC meets in March. The men finished 5th while the women took 25th. Various athletes have been all over the country representing LU this month in yet another impressive year. Josh MacDonald won Track Athlete of the Week while Michele Cummings won Field Athlete of the Week for their contributions early in March. Christina Mitchell also claimed Field Athlete of the Week later in March. The Flames hope to smoothly transition their dominance to the outdoor portion of the season with the Big South Championships less than three weeks away. Liberty will also be hosting the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on April 5-6, so make sure to check them out.
