The Flames opened preseason training camp on Thursday in the first of 15 practices between now and August 22nd. The full training camp schedule follows:

3-star DB to visit Saturday
3-star defensive back prospect, Khris Pam, is expected to visit Liberty on Saturday the 8th. Pam has several offers including Charleston Southern, Hampton, Presbyterian, Charlotte, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, and South Carolina State. The Flames already have 9 commitments in the Class of 2016 and adding Pam would be a huge addition.

Skalaski to Gettysburg College
Liberty defensive quality control coach Charlie Skalaski IV announced he has accepted a position as Wing Backs & Wide Receivers coach at Gettysburg College. Skalaski’s dad left Liberty this summer to for Eastern Kentucky to be its new wide receivers coach. The head coach at Gettysburg is Barry Streeter, the father of former Liberty offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter.

Jay Barber commits
Coach McKay picked up a commitment from Jay Barber on Wednesday evening. Barber is the son of Liberty Athletic Director Jeff Barber, and is a 2017 prospect. The 6’4″ guard is known for his prolific 3-point shooting. He currently attends Liberty Christian Academy where he averaged 13.7 points and 2 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from 3-point range last season.

Non-conference Basketball Schedule released
Coach McKay released the 2015-16 men’s basketball non-conference schedule late last week. The schedule is highlighted by road trips to VCU and Notre Dame, and also features matchups with William & Mary and Princeton. The season opens on November 13th with a home matchup against Covenant College.
