2014 schedule coming together
The 2014 football schedule is coming together piece by piece. As was announced by Appalachian State on Thursday, the Flames will head to Boone to face the Mountaineers on October 11. This will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the 2 schools, and will be the first since Appalachian State has accepted an invitation to the Sun Belt. The Mountaineers will be 1 of 2 FBS opponents Liberty faces in 2014 as they open the season on August 30th against North Carolina.

Women’s hoops lost close one to UVA
The Lady Flames played host to the University of Virginia this past Tuesday night. Liberty had a chance to win as time expired, but were unable to as they dropped the game 61-60. Liberty was led by Mickayla Sanders’ 16 points. The Lady Flames are in Philadelphia this weekend to take on St. Joseph’s on Saturday.

Volleyball in Big South Tourney
The Liberty volleyball team is currently competing in the Big South Tournament. The Flames entered the tournament as the #4 seed, and they defeated the #5 seed UNC-Asheville Thursday 3-1. They resume play Friday afternoon against the #1 seed Radford Highlanders.

Men’s soccer advances to championship
The men’s soccer team beat #2 seed High Point and #3 seed Longwood to advance to the championship game of the Big South Tournament. The Flames were upended by the top seed Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 2-0. Liberty finished the season 11-9 overall.

Women’s soccer loses in NCAA tournament
After winning the Big South tournament championship, Liberty advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they faced #1 seed North Carolina. The Lady Flames were defeated 4-0 by the Tar Heels. Liberty concludes the season with a 16-6-2 final mark.

Jennings continues hot play
Former Liberty running back Rashad Jennings continues his hot play for the Oakland Raiders. This past week against the Houston Texans, Jennings rushed 22 times for a career-high 150 yards and 1 touchdown. Jennings has 93 rushes for 480 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season.

Signing week concludes
The early signing period wrapped up earlier this week, and Liberty was able to sign all 5 of their verbal commitments for basketball.
