As you may have noticed, Williams Stadium is currently having a new turf installed. The work began shortly after last month’s commencement service and is expected to be completed well in advance of the 2015 season opener on September 5th.
After several public comments by AD Jeff Barber about there being a new design to the field, we got to wondering what exactly it could be. Barber’s most recent statement on the matter is (5:23 mark), “it will be a new design, still have red end zones, but it will be a new design that people will love.” Hmmm….
We spoke with Jeff a few months ago and asked him about the design. His response then was: “We’re looking at things we can do to make it look special.” Since colored fields have been all the rage in recent years, we specifically asked if we would be installing a traditional green field and Barber quickly responded with a “yes sir.”
So, all we know, based off public comments, is there will be red end zones and a new design. Have any ideas?
Perhaps the Yard-line and Numbers will be in Red…
