ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper held a media conference call on Wednesday about the upcoming NFL Draft. He talked about a number of players, but also was asked a couple of questions about Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden.

In what could be a historic NFL draft wide receivers, Kiper said he expects AGG to be one of as many as 25 receivers taken in the first 3 1/2 to 4 rounds.

“I wrote him up earlier on ESPN.com as an under the radar guy that I really liked,” Kiper said of the Liberty standout. “He caught my attention. He has size, he plays physical, he’s a hands catcher, he knows how to use that frame to get over a defender, which I like. He has a pretty good burst out of the break, which is important for a player his size. He showed he could play with the big boys (at the Senior Bowl). Depending on his workout numbers, I could see him going anywhere between the 2nd and 4th round.”

Gandy-Golden will be competing in the Combine in Indianapolis next week, a very important date for him as he looks to continue to improve his draft stock.

“He’s going to be playing against big time corners that lock you down,” Kiper said of AGG when he gets to the NFL. “You’re not going to physically have a mismatch against anybody. That’s really the same about anybody, it doesn’t matter if you come out of Liberty or you come out of Alabama or Ohio State. It doesn’t matter, you still have to adjust to that.”

Kiper concluded his thoughts on Gandy-Golden by saying he doesn’t think he will slip past the 3rd round.

“I don’t think he’s getting out of the 3rd round,” he said. “He’s too talented. He had a great year and he had the Senior Bowl. I say no later than round 3 for Antonio Gandy-Golden.”
