Liberty has added its 4th transfer to its men’s basketball program with the addition of Osmar Garcia-Araujo. A 6’7″ Venezuela native, Garcia-Araujo comes to Liberty from Anderson (SC) where he was a top 10 Division II player in the country according to Draft Express.
This past season at Anderson, Garcia-Araujo averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game in 32 games played. He also had 36 steals and 25 blocks while shooting 65.7% from the field and 73% from the free throw line while not attempting a three-pointer. He helped Anderson to a 29-3 season and 20-2 conference mark and a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament before being upset in the first round.
The previous season, Garcia-Araujo played at Lincoln Memorial, another DII school, where he averaged 6.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game while shooting 62.2% from the field and making his only attempted three-pointer on the season. It was his second season at Lincoln Memoria as he averaged 12.0 minutes per game in 2023-24, while also averaging 6.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 54% from the field, 4 of 16 (25%) from three and 76.8% from the free throw line.
Garcia-Araujo is the 5th transfer addition to Liberty’s roster so far this off-season, as he joins Sean Register, Jr., Dillon Claussen, Cobi Campbell, and Cooper Campbell. The Flames have one roster spot available.
