Liberty senior quarterback Buckshot Calvert has been invited to play in the 2020 Hula Bowl, his dad announced on twitter.
The Hula Bowl is a post-season college football all-star game scheduled to be played on January 26, 2020 at 10:30 p.m. EST at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The game will feature NCAA college football players from all divisions, along with international players from Japan, Canada, Australia, and the UK. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
This will be the first Hula Bowl played since January 2008. Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan will be the head coach of the West Team while former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Mike Smith will be the head coach of the East Team.
Calvert joins Antonio Gandy-Golden to receive an invitation to a post season all-star game, as AGG will play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Calvert finished his 4-year Liberty career as the program record holder in 16 different categories, highlighted by his 12,025 career passing yards and 93 passing touchdowns while making 43 career starts. He is the only quarterback in program history to throw for more than 11,000 yards, and no other quarterback has thrown for more than 64 touchdowns.
