The full 2022 Liberty football schedule has been released. The schedule is highlighted by a home slate that includes BYU and Virginia Tech.

The season begins on September 3rd with Liberty travelling to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The previously announced home-and-home series begins in 2020 when Southern Miss visits Lynchburg on October 24th. The home opener is on the following weekend, September 10th, when UAB visits the Flames. This series was also previously announced, with the Blazers hosting Liberty on October 22nd, 2021.

Liberty will hit the road in week 3 against ACC opponent Wake Forest, the first of 3 games scheduled between the two teams. This series was also announced previously, with other dates in 2025 (in Lynchburg) and 2026 (in Winston-Salem).

The 2nd home game of the 2022 season will be on September 24th against Akron. This is the first time this series has been mentioned, and is likely part of a larger series. Liberty returns to face Old Dominion in Norfolk on October 1st, in a game that was previously announced to be on September 24th. After meeting in Liberty’s first FBS game this past season, the two FBS foes in the state of Virginia will also meet in Lynchburg in 2021.

A two-game road trip continues on October 8th at FIU in Miami. This is a return trip in the home-and-home series previously announced for a date in Lynchburg on September 26th, 2020.

On October 15th, Liberty will welcome former Big South foe Gardner-Webb for the first game in a 2-game home-stand that concludes on October 22nd against BYU. The two Independent teams will meet for the first time this season, on November 19th, in Provo, Utah.

Liberty and UMass will renew their rivalry on October 29th, 2022. The two Independent teams are scheduled to meet every season through 2027.

The Flames will meet another SEC opponent on November 5th when they travel to take on the Razorbacks in Arkansas. After facing Auburn this past season, Liberty will meet Ole Miss in 2021.
