Liberty wide receiver Demario Douglas has declared for the NFL Draft, as he will bypass the final two years of eligibility.

“Faith, Family & football have been three constants throughout my entire life,” Douglas said in an announcement posted to his social media accounts. “For the past 4 years I’ve been grateful to play for Liberty & call Lynchburg home. During my time here at Liberty I have grown as an individual both on and off the field.”

Douglas has been Liberty’s leading receiver each of the past two seasons. This year, the redshirt-sophomore played in 13 games finishing with 79 receptions for 993 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also rushed for 105 yards and another score. For his Liberty career, Douglas had 172 receptions for 2,193 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Following the 2021 season, he was named second-team VaSID All-State second-team at receiver as well as being named second team All-Independent Phil Steele at receiver and punt returner. During his redshirt-freshman season in 2020, Douglas was a Freshman All-American as a punt returner as he ranked 9th in the country averaging 11.1 yards per return.

“After much discussion and prayer with my family, I am happy to announce I will be entering the 2023 NFL Draft,” his statement continued. “Playing in the NFL, like so many, has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. In 2023, I will be able to fulfill that dream thanks to everyone who has supported me along the way.”
