When Liberty takes the field on January 1st for the VRBO Fiesta Bowl, the Flames will do so at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.

The stadium opened in 2006 as Cardinals Stadium. The 63,400-seat venue officially opened on August 1, 2006 and was named by Business Week as one of the ten “most impressive” sports facilities on the globe. It features a retractable roof and roll-in natural grass field. The cost of the stadium was $455 million.

State Farm Stadium is located just west of Phoenix. It replaced Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe as the home of the Cardinals. The stadium has also been the host of the Fiesta Bowl since 2007, while also hosting two BCS National Championship games in 2007 and 2011. State Farm Stadium has also hosted the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2016, three Super Bowls including the most recent one just a few months ago.

Just last year, State Farm Stadium played host to the CFP semifinal game for the 2022 Fiesta Bowl which featured No. 3 TCU and No. 2 Michigan.

It has also hosted several other notable events including the Final Four in 2017 and is scheduled to host the Final Four once again in 2024.
