Earlier this month, Liberty officially released its complete 2023 and 2024 football schedules, highlighted by a game at Central Florida on Sept. 7, 2024.

Another new game added to the 2024 schedule which hadn’t been previously announced included a home game against Texas State on Oct. 26, 2024. Based on a copy of the contract received from Texas State, this is a single game that Liberty will pay Texas State $1,000,000 for.

The payment is the second highest guarantee that Liberty has paid or is scheduled to pay, per public records. Previously, the Flames paid Old Dominion $1.32 million for the 2018 home opener as Liberty’s first ever game as an FBS member.

According to Liberty Athletics Director Ian McCaw, Liberty is receiving $1 million for the game at UCF in 2024 as these two games were worked as a package deal. Essentially, this works out as a “break even home and home” series for the Flames with two different teams.

Texas State is a member of the Sun Belt. The Bobcats finished 2019 with a 3-9 overall record and 2-6 mark in conference play.
