Liberty will play host to Delaware State on Nov. 26, according to the Hornets’ official website. Missouri, however, will not be on the Flames’ schedule in 2022-23 as the Tigers have released their schedule and it does not include Liberty.

This will be the second ever meeting between the Flames and Delaware State, as Liberty defeated the Hornets on Dec. 6 of last season, 96-60. Brody Peebles and Keegan McDowell led the Flames in scoring in the win, each netting 18 points followed by Darius McGhee’s 13 and Micaiah Abii’s 11 points. Delaware State finished last season with a 2-25 overall record and 0-14 mark in MEAC play.

Liberty was expected to return to Missouri for the final game of a three-game series this coming season. That game now, is not expected to be played. The Flames defeated Missouri, 66-45, in a game at Liberty Arena last year. In the first game of the series, the Tigers knocked off Liberty, 69-60, on their home court during the 2020-21 season.

The final non-conference schedule is getting close to being finalized for Liberty. The Flames will have three games as part of the Cancun Challenge, beginning with a home date at Liberty Arena against Southern Miss on Nov. 18 before heading to Mexico to take on Northwestern on Nov. 22 and either Bradley or Auburn on Nov. 23. Liberty will play Bryant in the 2022 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday, Dec. 17 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Flames will also play host to North Carolina Central and Maryland-Eastern Shore. The ASUN has also previously announced the conference schedule this season for all member schools.

Liberty is coming off a season that saw the program win 20 or more games for a sixth consecutive year. The Flames finished the season at 22-11 overall and 12-4 in ASUN play, finishing first in the ASUN’s East Division. Liberty saw its three straight ASUN championships come to an end when the Flames lost to Bellarmine, 53-50, on March 5 in the ASUN Tournament semifinals.
