In an email to current Liberty students from the ticket office earlier today, Liberty announced that students will be allowed at home football games this season.

With Williams Stadium’s capacity being restricted to 1,000 fans to begin the 2020 season due to the government mandate, many fans questioned if students would be included in the small crowd.

Liberty will be using a lottery system to decide which students will gain admission to games this fall. According to the email, t the beginning of the week of a home game, students will receive an email from Liberty with a link to participate in the lottery. Submissions will close at noon on Tuesday and students will find out the results on Wednesday.

Each lottery winner will receive admission for two people to that week’s home game. Students can email  tickets@liberty.edu with any questions regarding the lottery.

It is not immediately clear how many of the 1,000 fans admitted will be students, but it is expected that the 1,000 will be split among students, players and coaches’ families, season ticket holders, and a visiting team allotment.

The Flames open the season this Saturday at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green. Liberty’s home opener is scheduled for next Saturday, Sept. 26 against Florida International.
