Liberty softball had a rough weekend, dropping three of four games at home. With the exception of the 7th inning of the 2nd game on Friday against Radford, the Lady Flames scored just two runs in 26 innings. Liberty is now 6-12 on the season.

FRIDAY GAME 1: RADFORD 3, LIBERTY 0

Radford scored all three of its runs with two outs. The Highlanders drew a pair of two-out walks in the top of the second before Hailey Scott’s single made it 1-0. The guests also tallied in the third and the seventh. Meanwhile, Dakota Redmon kept the Liberty bats silent throughout, closing out a two-hit shutout by getting Brooke Roberts to ground to third for the final out of the game. The win was the first for Radford over Liberty since April 13, 2018. The Lady Flames had won the previous 10 meetings.

Radford led Liberty 5-2 in hits. Caitlyn Nesbitt drew the loss, allowing two runs on two hits, walking three, and fanning one in three innings pitched. Camden Anders pitched four innings of relief, yielding one u nearned run on t here hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

FRIDAY GAME 2: LIBERTY 5, RADFORD 4

The Lady Flames entered the seventh inning trailing, 4-1. Brooke Roberts singled to lead off the home half of the final frame, and Avery Noel followed with a double. After one out, Savannah Jessee doubled down the right field line, narrowing the gap to 4-3. Brynn McManus then launched a two-run homer to left center, sealing the walk-off win.

Danner Allen earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings of shutout, two-hit relief during which she walked two and struck out one. Gabby Mike got the start and pitched 4.1 innings.

McManus and Alexia Carrasquillo both homered in the game. Jessee doubles and drove in two runs while Noelw ent 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored.

SATURDAY GAME 1: MARSHALL 8, LIBERTY 0 (6 innings)

Marshall’s first batter of the game homered to set the tone for the day. The Thundering Herd hit three homers, with Sydni Burko’s third inning grand slam giving Marshall a 5-0 lead. Bella Gerlach’s second homer of the game in the sixth pushed the difference to eight runs, as the guests won in run-rule fashion. The win was Marshall’s first over Liberty since April 13, 2016.

Maddie Veal pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out three. Camden Anders drew the loss, allowing five runs on four hits, walking one and fanning two in two innings pitched before giving away to Gabby Mike and Danner Allen. Alexia Carrasquillo was 3 for 3 for the Flames, accounting for three of the team’s five hits.

SATURDAY GAME 2: UCONN 7, LIBERTY 1

Liberty took a 1-0 lead on a third inning sacrifice fly by Alelxia Carrasquillo in the bottom of the third. UConn responded with a two-run double by Heidi Barber in the top of the fourth inning. The Huskies broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning and relief pitcher Jessica Walter finished off the victory for UConn.

Walter earned the win, pitching 3.2 innings of one hit relief with one strikeout. Kaylan Yoder drew the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in four innings pitched. Caitlyn Nesbitt and Abigail Findlay both pitched in relief for Liberty. Ella Fox was 2 for 3 with a double, triple, and run scored for Liberty.
