Liberty men’s basketball team has opened the season at 4-0 for the first time since 1999 following its win at East Carolina on Saturday.

Following the first two weeks of college basketball action, the Flames remained in the “others receiving votes” category in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, as released on Monday. Coach Ritchie McKay’s squad began the season in the “other receiving votes” category in the AP poll following the team’s 29-win campaign and NCAA Tournament first round win a season ago. In the AP Poll, the Flames are 42nd with 4 votes.

In the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, the Flames have moved up to number 4 after starting the season at number 6. Liberty checks in just below #1 Gonzaga who is followed by East Tennessee State, and Vermont.

The Flames return to action Tuesday evening in the Vines Center against Navy.
